Mexico's "Day of the Dead"

Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a three-day festival in Mexico which lasts from October 31 to November 2. Families demonstrate respect for deceased family members with graveyard vigils and altars decorated with offerings of food, drink and flowers. October 31st is All Hallows Eve or Halloween, November 1st is El Dia de los Innocentes (Day of the Children) and 2nd November is the actual DIa de los Muertos (All Souls Day).

The dress code is skeletons and ghoul costumes, with brightly decorated skulls as decoration. Despite the name, it's a bright, vibrant celebration that has now spread to many other countries. You can read more about it here ...

I'll try to post more photos of our local celebration next week!
